kjv@2Peter:1:2 @ Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
I would like to pause here for a moment for us to regather our breath and refocus on what it is that we are attempting to consider here. I believe that we are considering the very essence of our lives in Christ Jesus and how this "new life" walks and talks and abides each day producing a fruit only Christ Himself could produce in and on and through us. You and I look at our lives presently examining the effect and output our determined faith, finding inconsistencies (even troubling signs to the opposite). Together we wonder what it is that needs to occur to get us into documented this better spiritual state.
Grace and peace in light of righteousness.
If there is one thing that can be said immediately about our current and varied problems/spiritual un-productivity it would be that there is a multi directional lack of grace and peace. It starts with a lack of grace and peace with God's righteousness typically (as it did coincidentally with Adam and Eve), who HE is, what He is doing, what HE is directing us to do or not do or become, how HE is going about directing us towards that, etc.. It often manifests itself as the lack of grace and peace with our own selves, our own nakedness before God and each other, our sense of shame for appearance or perhaps guilt for rebellion, our blame placed upon each other though we try to get along for the most part that we've become what we've become. It moves on and isolates us to where we justify the way we do and worship the way we do. It overtakes our entire existence in negative ways just as it would in positive ways if we were to but turn the corner and come back to grace and peace first with God's righteousness (if we could).
Yes "grace and peace" in this epistle certainly is used as a form of greeting by Peter. Before simply skipping over the phrase though, let us consider that Peter (being held accountable for all his words) is also performing a smooth transition into what is next to follow. This mid sentence bridge kept in sequence to our inquiry provides some foundational insights well worth not brushing by.
Contextual Anchors - Grace and Peace Multiplied
Note: There is an overwhelming amount of scripture needing to be provided here, so where appropriate key foundations have been broken off into digestible pieces. It will become more and more important to keep coming back to these foundations and explore each morsel's greater depth and individual context as they will become the fuel that ignites true spiritual productivity. These pieces then can be used as element specific study/meditation tools.

In continuation with the previous context it could be related "at grace and peace with God's and Savior's righteousness", "at grace and peace with whatever that given faith requires in order to rightly serve and be an apostle of Him", "at grace and peace with the transformation ideal to the new spiritually operating productive man". This would amplify what it means for grace and peace to be multiplied in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, for at the base of it is the knowledge of the fuller revelation of His complete and all encompassing righteousness; the righteousness performed between God and Savior to our great benefit.
KnowledgeableVirtue - What do we know about the person of our Jesus Christ that would make that fight for our given faith even possible? What else do we still hunger to know about Him that the instills further grace and peace moving forward?
- VirtuousFaith - Are we of the belief that being at grace and peace equates to living the easy life? or are we of the belief that being at grace and peace will require the valor and moral stamina to fight in the prescribed way for it, to firmly establish/sustain it?
TemperateKnowledge - In the face of all that could come against it, how temperate or guarded can we be with this established grace and peace and the further pursuit to multiply it?
PatientTemperance - How patient can we be with ourselves and others or the developing situations encountered daily standing guard over what we know and what we are learning of Christ and His grace and peace given us?
GodlyPatience - Is our patience towards others and developments actively moving forward within our own grace and peace that we have come to know and cherish in Christ Jesus?
BrotherlyGodliness - Is our kindness exerted towards our brethren forged out of the alignment of this given and multiplying grace and peace with God's righteousness?
AgapeBrotherliness - Are we at grace and peace with God's love as we are with His righteousness enough to radiate it toward the brethren in Christ? to receive it ourselves in like kind from them?
It is quite possible to be at grace and peace by the avoidance of God's/Saviors' righteousness and knowledge thereof; else one's righteousness over the others'. That however does not make for this productive faith and it is not the faith that is given. Knowledge of righteousness brings about like precious faith. Faith brings the continuing inquiry into the deeper revelations of righteousness and thereby additional faith. With the deeper knowledge can come the process of multiplying such grace and peace.
There are two Greek words for knowledge to acquaint ourselves with in this chapter: Epignosis (see: EpignosisKnowledge) and Gnosis (see: GnosisKnowledge). At present we are speaking of the EpignosisKnowledge or "recognition and acknowledgement in full of the large scale person and authority of Jesus the Christ". The action of recognition/acknowledgement is being specifically pointed grammatically here to the direct object of His righteousness; the recognition/acknowledgement of His righteousness. Further it is depicted as a knowledge that is obtained and that produces as such a faith on equal standing with that faith originally experienced by the Apostles; "like precious" faith.
The singular topics of Grace and Peace can themselves bring about a much deeper understanding of this tremendous righteousness unknown to the nebulous of faith. Remember that in context this is not a manufactured grace and peace, it is one offered from the Godhead to be received and acted within and upon by us.
