Eye Witnesses Of Majesty

kjv@2Peter:1:16 @ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

kjv@2Peter:1:17 @ For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

kjv@2Peter:1:18 @ And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

Need further reason to justify implementing the "like precious" faith into your daily life?

Practical Aspects:

The interesting thing I find in Peter's retelling of this personally witnessed event is that Peter was told by Jesus directly not to tell anyone about this until after Jesus had died and been resurrected. Here we are attempting to justify the practical application of the "like precious" faith and here is one of the major evidences that would justify it and yet it is for a time purposely withheld from public consumption by the Lord Himself. Don't you find that interesting?

Peter is retelling this now because it supports in his mind his previous statement that this is not a cunningly devised fable, but does it promote the same confidence in us who were not fortunate enough to have witnessed this event ourselves? What promotes confidence in our minds are the tangible and practical results.

You see, people don't believe because of what they see or hear, they believe because of what they have been able to experience. Just because three men had witnessed the majesty of Jesus first hand does not mean that any other men are going to believe just because of the three delayed men's testimony; not because it is not true, but because the experience of it is foreign to us. If faith is the "evidence" of things unseen, things hoped for, the "like precious" faith outlined here is then the attempt to bring forward the evidences of such faith into our daily lives, thus it is the bringing forth of fruit/the not lacking nor being barren/the abiding in His vine/the partaking of His divine nature. We believe all the more because of what we have been brought by Him to experience.
