As discipled Christians we all are seeking to become more and more fruitful daily in the knowledge of Christ. The immediate situations each of us individually face making us aware of this desperate need likely differ among us, but the spiritual processes of us becoming this fruitfulness are nearly identical. For some the situation may be in the form of leadership, ministry or evangelism, family, being of effect and influence and aid in the lives of others. For many the situation may be of a more personal and critical sort, a urgent crises, a sin that has so easily beset, a destructive trait that they've yet to get over, the consequences of another's doing perhaps; it is almost as if one must first navigate the battlefield of their own entanglements before coming to the aid of someone else. Where then does the knowledge of Christ Jesus come in to produce it's abundant effect?
Toward the end of his life, shortly before his long expected martyrdom, the apostle Peter recommitted himself in a letter to like precious Christian believers to putting the essential framework of these spiritual workings back into our remembrance. I point to nkjv@2Peter:1 as the outline of his vast understanding and experience of it. It reads almost as a bullet list of essential elements needed for us to become fruitful in this Christ knowledge. I like to think of these bullet points as anchoring point or hangers on which we are able to hang the greater more detailed context of other scriptures. I will endeavor in this FoundationsOfTheLikePreciousFaithSeries to anchor as much of this context as I myself have initially gathered. Let us encourage each other still to seek out all that much more that cannot be fit into this brief written undertaking.
All of this effort we will invest in so that we by the Holy Scripture's leading might become all the more fruit bearing in the knowledge of Christ Jesus as it comes to our own struggles and the struggles of those whom we care so dearly, as it then comes also to the charted course for our succeeding leadership. Apply your personal findings in this study prayerfully and with all diligence to your immediate and continuing situations and I am sure that we will come to the abundant place that Peter sought with his short remaining time to remind us of.
