Present and Transform - Application #10
Allowing God what is His to do.
While there is much for us to be doing in our reasonable service, somethings are to be left to God. Vengeance is one.
I may not have many enemies, but, Christ Jesus does.
We (the Body) here in the western hemisphere may not have many enemies, but, the Body of Christ as a whole world wide does. The Lord's enemy is my enemy.
There are plenty of daily reports of the persecution of the Church in many parts of the world. Just yesterday there was a bombing of a church in Egypt killing twenty five. Thousands took to the streets throwing rocks and rioting.
I honestly couldn't tell you how I would react if it was my local assembly instead of theirs, I'm not going to judge. Maybe in a largely Muslim world I'd be left to do the same. I am only part of a conforming view that sees their problems as theirs and my problems as mine.
I'm beginning to feel that the correct response from me is to approach my assembly here with the prospect of flooding the Egyptian neighborhood with love and comfort, gifts of kindness, a show of peaceable support for our eastern brothers/their families/their community Christian and Non Christian.
The Mercy of God touches people from distant places providing a common bond and a unity, greater than nation or continent or hemisphere.
The mercy of God calls upon all believers to act on the behalf of those being most affected by the enemies of Christ. Our's however is not for vengeance, but, for opportunity; the opportunity to prove what is His good, acceptable and perfect will.
What God does and what we do - Living Sacrifice
We do as we are told. We continue to do that in the face of opposition, both near and far. We watch each others back and respond in a fashion reliant upon God.
I don't know if my assembly has established the wherewithal to pull off a "love flood" of an distant devastated/inflamed Egyptian community this time. What about next time?
That's maybe where you and I come in!
