Introducing the pBiblx2 Street Wise Bible System.
making pBiblx2 work productively for you!
Perhaps the easiest way to familiarize yourself with resources available the pBiblx2 Street Wise Bible System is to experiment with some key features first hand.
Let us tour the practical possibilities together using some illustrative examples.
First, lets say we are interested in a particular topic; say salvation.
PCARR here has automatically linked that word to a pBiblx2 component called "Seeker". Click on salvation now to see just how valuable this resource is. Return here when finished.
Seeker can also be found in the page menu above at any time for your own inquiries.
Perhaps this too much information. The second resource we'll look at is the word or phrase search in menu option Basic.
Perhaps we know a few words of the verse that we are trying to locate; "faithful servant". Click on the link below to see this type of search then return back. Try your own phrase while your at it!
Basic also allows for Book Chapter (Chapter Range) Verse (Verse Range) for verses that you know kjv@Psalms:27
Boolean AND OR NOT searches:
Naves + Easton + Map Overlays
Not only do you have the basic mode available for verse and string searches, the text that your search has pulled up can be further enhanced with the Naves Topical Bible, Eastons Bible Dictionary, Bible Place Map links overlayed.
pBless Parallel text
Having the ability to compare translations side by side can prove valuable especially in multi lingual situations.
The Parallel button lets you view the same verses in two seperate translations. It is often helpful simply to have the Treasury of Sciptural Knowledge side by side with your present translation just to have an immediate set of verse links available to dig down a little deeper.
There are times "Seeker" and "Basic" type searches produce more information than you can visually sort through.
The menu option "Filter" can be used to narrow the scope down to specific segments of the Bible such as "Pauline Prison Episltes"
Here's a link to see a filtered in action: filter:NT-EPISTLES-PAUL-PRISON truth+in+love
Of course there are times where your looking for a bible story and not a certain phrase or topic.
This brings us to the menu option "Indexes". Amongst the many different indexes you'll find a index of all stories called "BIBLEBYSTORYLINE". Don't forget to return back!
All Indexes are user contributed and follow a simple flat file syntax that allows easy creation/modification/distribution. see: home:PbiblxCreateIndex
There are even indexes of exteranl web directories and media links that have been contributed index:WEBLINKS NONE
Now your not always trying to find, once you have found it's time for you to do something with. Let' start with the menu item "Tags".
A tag is a way to mark your trail much like a book mark. They are ways for you to come back to the point that you've been before.
You can organize them as you see fit, maybe by subject, maybe by event. pBiblx2 being a multi user system even lets you organize by user.
Here are a few of my sample notes:
Then there are times when you'll need more than just a Tag, you'll be needing the menu option "Notes". Thanks to PCARR, pBiblx notes are kept on a Wiki. Most personal note files are kept in each users mypad:MyPad space.
This file itself is a note, so you can see the power of your notes!
- Besides what you've already seen:
- Your notes can contain external web links likehttp://shepherdpuplinux.us
- Your notes can be underlined italicized
- Your notes can be automatically made into a HTML slide presentaion (slidy:PbiblxIntro2 ).
- Your notes can even include pictures.
(See HelpFile for syntax rules and home:Pbiblx2CreateWikiContent for more info)
For security reasons, in order to use this note wiki feature on this server you'll need a editing password home:UserContribution
Reference works are included in pBiblx2 such as the Strongs Hebrew and Greek Concordances, Easton's, Nave's Topical, and Thompsons Chain Reference. These can help you find word meanings, topical usage, perhaps find that verse that till now has eluded you.
Dict will also pre-format links to a growing list of outside resources such as Goolge to search other sites.
Dict is also integrated into the Seeker utility.
- Try some of these links for now!
- dict:strongs psalm
- dict:easton psalm
- dict:naves psalm
- dict:tcr worship
As of Version 2.0.7 Facilities for sharing your comments has been provided both in the various wiki threads and in the basic Bible pages. An wiki page author for instance can have a discussion for the entire page Comment Board:PbiblxIntro2 or for a particular conceptual point Comment Board:IntroConcept1 . Bible comments are automatically labeld with the Bible verse currently being viewed.
A brief introduction like this can not begin to explain the many useful features of pBiblx, hopefully though you can begin to see just how productive your studies can be.
Where pBiblx2 really shines is in daily Bible outreach. For that introduction please read PbiblxIntro3.
