How long will we dance around making a firm decision one way or the other?

kjv@1Kings:18:21 @ And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

For some reason we call it intelligence. We dabble in the things of God; a little of this, a little of that. Open mindedness. Problem is that one never has to stick firm to a decision one way or the other.

Intelligence in this sense is nothing more than a delay tactic. What is the intelligence in that? Instead of grabbing hold to something for all that is worth, learning of it and applying it in all of it's many aspects, living it, adjusting it, adapting it, making it all that it is meant to be, all of the things that we would normally associate with cognitive intelligence we make it something we're not yet ready to anchor ourselves upon.

Elijah was one prophet of God against the four hundred prophets of the Baals on this day. His message then was as clear as it is today - you can't dance your way around deciding for God/there is no middle ground.

Okay, so you are the analytical type. What are your powers of deduction actually being used for? To stall? To Halt? To avoid having to stand firm?

Funny that Elijah would use a word similar to our English word "opinion". I know a great many analytical minds that refuse to believe in anything unless it can be proven as fact. Logic would rather tell us that one is not going to know certain things as fact until one grabs hold and rides it through to it's final conclusion. It is this way with love. It is this way with all interpersonal relationships. Why should it be any different with God?

The fear of being wrong is one thing. The fear of being right quiet another. It is a trick of the pcarr:ReprobateMind to associate standing in the gap paralyzed/immovable/going nowhere with being open minded and academically astute.

I've known people living into their nineties that have not made their decision yet. They haven't traveled down that road to find out what that relationship with God is all about. When will they make that decision? When will they find that relationship out?
