kjv@2Peter:1:5 @ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

kjv@2Peter:1:6 @ And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

kjv@2Peter:1:7 @ And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

kjv@2Peter:1:8 @ For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

OLD Introduction

As part of our pcarr:FoundationsOfTheLikePreciousFaith series I would like to present to you some thoughts on applying this type of faith forward into your daily life. I am in the process of collecting some general examples together. With enough of these examples the hope is that you will be able to see some directions for you to head with your faith moving forward into fruitful spiritually derived actions.

If you are looking for a place to start, I would say to begin applying these things to your most urgent needs of the day. For some of you that would mean battling your addictions. For others that would mean pulling your marriage back from the rock shoreline. For some that might mean coming to terms with a destructive trait or issue; somebody else it may just be finding the confidence to go onward. There are a whole host of issues that we could be dealing with here, but not one that is beyond the scope of this foundational "like precious faith".

Start out a step at a time, one day at a time, let the success of the one day propel you into the next day, build and build and become established in the faith forward knowledge and skill set.

Before we get too deep into this it will be helpful to review what we all ready know and start filling in some of the context. If you haven't already browse through the pcarr:FoundationsOfTheLikePreciousFaith series with it's links. We will be coming back to those resources and studies over and over.

    Here is the general form from there on out as found in kjv@2Peter:1
  1. Building up the Righteousness of God kjv@2Peter:1:1-4
  2. The righteousness of God is the one thing that we often leave out of our considerations and actions; though it is the one thing that is needed most. The Righteousness of God forms the bases of our understanding of Jesus, His truth, His mercy, His judgment, His compassion, His grace and peace, His provision. It is from these greater understandings that the possibility of our partaking of a divine nature escaped from earthly corruptions comes out of to attack our daily set backs.

    What we'd be looking for are ways of building this understanding of His Righteousness up. It will begin for most with the simple presumption that God is righteous. We pursue that further in our study and contemplations as to how that is actually so. Once grasped we can better search out where His arm is being revealed and what resources He has provided for become fruitful in our difficulty.

  3. Building up the Like Precious Diligence's kjv@2Peter:1:5-7
  4. Being adherent in these essential focused activities in each and everything we do is the second key to our eventual success. It is like building a conduit to pipe the knowledge of Jesus in to our hearts and out through our actions. His uncorrupted righteousness and His uncorrupted power works towards our incorruptible fruit. It begins by adding a special courage and valor to our righteousness resolved faith, a spiritual and revelation knowledge detached from corruption, a special set of inspired temperance and patience, godliness and brotherly kindness and agape forms of love.

    So we are looking into each of these diligence's daily. Like building blocks we are stringing these items together to prepare ourselves and formulate our battle plan for the day. Faith is bridged by the combination of these diligence's over into real and positive actions.

  5. Building in key feedback points and remembrance agents kjv@2Peter:1:8-15
  6. As the like precious process is a process of building, feedback and correction is essential. So too scheduled agents of being put back into remembrance the essential known to work.

    So we are searching out honest and reality based evidences that we are on track and moving forward. We return to these elements to measure our growth and when there is little or no growth Peter points us to key "lack of fruit" indicators. We schedule into our daily/weekly/monthly devotions time to reflect, pray over and be reminded.

  7. Building on the foundations of scripture and the prophets. kjv@2Peter:1:16-21
  8. The point to understand is that if we believe in the scriptures enough to believe in them for our eventual salvation then surely we should believe in them enough to put ourselves to the processes that will make for our spiritual progress in the here and now. Faith is a daily thing and hopefully it is a faith strong enough to put forward into all of your daily situations. The knowledge of Christ is not something well and good just to maintain, it is to overcome and become abundantly fruitful in.

    So we are looking for the real life uses of the Knowledge of Christ. We find them in the scriptures and the prophets and we see them in the movements of real today believers the world over. Not every Christian yet has this boldness. Our job is to show them in our own lives why that they should.

As always, you have the many valuable resources of the pcarr:FoundationsOfTheLikePreciousFaith series and more available to help make your inquiries more productive.
