A exhortation to love is one thing but, to abhor as well?
kjv@Romans:12:9 @ Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

Love and Hypocrisy
Now there is a similar verse
kjv@1Timothy:1:5 where charity out of a pure heart and faith unfeigned are stated to be the end of the commandment.
The "Agape" love spoken here doesnot appear to be self generated, it comes from God and is of God. The agape we recieve from Him is the agape we bestow upon others. To diconnect God from the agape is to generate our own form of love, one riddled with hypocrisy.

In kjv@Matthew:23 Jesus gives perhaps the most complete account of those who mix religon with hypocrisy - the scribes and the Pharisees:
- kjv@Matthew:23:4 bind heavy burdens / themselves will not move
- kjv@Matthew:23:5 their works they do for to be seen of men
- kjv@Matthew:23:6 And love the uppermost + greeted as Rabbi
- kjv@Matthew:23:13 shut up the kingdom of heaven / neither go in yourselves
- kjv@Matthew:23:14 devour widows' houses, pretence make long prayer
- kjv@Matthew:23:15 make him (proselyte) twofold more the child of hell
- kjv@Matthew:23:17 swear by the temple, it is nothing
- kjv@Matthew:23:23 pay tithe / omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith
- kjv@Matthew:23:24strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel
- kjv@Matthew:23:25 ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess
- kjv@Matthew:23:27 appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness
- kjv@Matthew:23:31 are the children of them which killed the prophets

Abhor and evil
Though the two sentences are found side by side in this verse, I feel that the two meanings are one. This is not our love afterall being exhorted; it is His.
